Bak Bak
GAMEBak Bak is a 2.5D endless platformer built in Unity for Android and iOS, live on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The player controls a frog desperately fleeing a relentless horde of zombie frogs, jumping over obstacles in a procedurally generated world that never repeats and never slows down.
Gameplay & Design
The core loop is an endless runner — obstacles spawn procedurally with escalating difficulty as the player survives longer. The game uses a 2.5D perspective with 2D sprites rendered in a 3D space. Custom HLSL shaders were written specifically for mobile optimization, reducing draw calls and overdraw on low-end Android and iOS devices. Sprite sheets and object pooling were implemented throughout to keep frame rates smooth and memory usage low.
Social & Competitive Features
Players log in via Facebook authentication, tying their progress to a persistent identity. A global leaderboard backed by a custom-built backend lets players compete worldwide — scores are submitted, ranked, and displayed in real time, adding a competitive layer to the survival loop.
Monetisation
The game is free to play. Rewarded ads give players a second chance to revive after death — a natural, non-intrusive placement that respects the game feel. Players who prefer an uninterrupted experience can remove ads permanently via an in-app purchase.
